Projects

Area 4 is hard at work to bring you the most current aid available to schools in our district. Currently we are providing the following projects for you to participate in:

E-Rate
E-Rate is a federal program, regulated by the FCC, for schools and libraries to receive discounts on telecommunications. The Area IV Learning and Technology Center provides school districts with the latest E-Rate information and sponsors workshops to assist districts in learning more about the program and filling out Forms 470 and 471.

Evaluating Computer-based Student Products
Activities demonstrating the evaluation of computer-based student products can be combined with professional development and data collection activities. The LTC will provide training on the tools, analysis, planning, and coordination of on site requests.

Next Step
The NextSteps Tool Kit provides tools and a process for helping schools examine their use of technology. By collecting and analyzing data schools can determine if they are achieving the results they desire. The information derived from the analysis is valuable for technology planning and school improvement plans.

Following are projects in which we are partnering.

Illinois World War II Veteran's Classroom Project
Organized around an inquire-based, digital-story telling learning experience in this statewide project students will capture digital stories and archive documents from the World War II era. Created by the Illinois World War II Illinois Veterans Memorial Assocation, Area 5 Learning Technology Center, and their partners the digital projects are posted at World War II Project

TECH 2013
This is a not-for-profit initiative supported by a broad range of organizations. Its purpose is to 1) raise awareness of the role technology plays in preparing students to succeed in today's world; and 2) to show the need for increased funding for classroom technology.

Illinois Education & Technology Conference
The Illinois Education & Technology Conference (IETC) is held annually in the fall at the Crowne Plaza Springfield Hotel. It offers those interested in improving the quality of education in Illinois the opportunity to gain information and exchange ideas on the applications of educational technologies in our classrooms.
